In this delightful new sapphic YA romance by the author of Simon vs. the Homosapiens Agenda, Amelia sets off on a road trip to see a live show of her favorite chaotic bisexual YouTuber with her best friends. But along the way, she starts to have increasingly hard-to-ignore feelings about her best friend, the recently-single Natalie. Review
How is each new Becky Albertalli book even more hilarious and swoon-worthy than the last? Amelia is a funny, relatable, and chaotic protagonist who brings so much life and joy to this sweet story. And as someone who just graduated high school, this book about that crazy transition time really hit home.
I was especially excited to realize halfway through the book that it was going to tie in heavily to my favorite Becky Albertalli book, Imogen, Obviously. Though Amelia isn’t exactly a sequel, I’d recommend reading Imogen first to fully understand the characters introduced in the second half of this book. And like Imogen, this book unpacks the harmful consequences of queerbaiting accusations, which relates to Albertalli’s own experience. With great Jewish and queer representation, Amelia, If Only is sure to charm you!
